PALM SPRINGS, CA - May 1, 2008 - The Mount San Jacinto State Park is currently closed due to extreme fire danger. The wilderness area is closed to extended hiking and overnight camping until further notice. The Desert View Trail, Nature Trail and Long Valley areas are open. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will continue to operate normally. The first Tram up Monday through Friday is 10am; Saturday and Sunday 8am, last Tram up 8pm and the last Tram down 9:45pm. Visitors to the Tramway's Mountain Station can still enjoy lunch or dinner at Peaks fine dining restaurant or Pines Cafe, a casual dining restaurant. Also open to visitors is a gift shop, natural history museum, a theater showing two documentary movies, a cocktail lounge and spectacular views. For more information...
